Walked around. Through the old town area. Up to the castle and looked out over the city. Back down, grabbed some sandwiches for lunch and relaxed in a little park area near the water. Cannes is an absolutely stunning place along the waterfront.
Proper beach with sand! If you're gonna go swimming anywhere around this area, this is the place to do it. Walked along the promenade, looking at all the expensive hotels and shops on one side and the gentle waves on the other side. At the end, past a lot of the hotels' private beach sections there's one of the public sections of beach. Walked along the sand here with no shoes and into the water a bit. It was so warm. Very hard to resist the urge to just go all the way in. Little bit of a walk up onto some rocks, looking out over the area with all it's expensive looking boats, cruise ships and everyone enjoying the water.
Surprisingly the water wasn't packed, even on such a nice day for it. Probably cause it's such a long beach. Caught the train back to Nice, got changed and then back on the train to a very nearby beach that wasn't sandy as such, but almost... kinda like tiny pebbles. Almost dead calm water, like a pool. There was a cruise ship just leaving from here too.
