Down and out in London...

is actually a biographical story by George Orwell. Things are looking up on the interview front for both of us, so it's just a matter of time now. In particular I'm getting much more interest than I was previously. So, we're not down and out yet.

But one of the stores we've found near our new abode (Kilburn, in case your interested) is called PoundLand. (Yes, we already made the joke)
Everything in the store is only 1 pound. And when I say everything, I mean everything. It's kind of like a Reject shop, Clints or 2dorra store. Except those things go up in price.

We had to buy some basic things today, and after filling a basket at Sainsburys, remembered that we'd seen many of the items at Poundland. So instead of paying 3 quid for pepper, and 1.50 for foil, and 1.20 for paper towels, and 1.80 for tissues, we paid 4quid for all of it. We also got a few other things, but estimate our savings at approximately 15 quid.

So the moral to this post is, if you're on a budget in London (and let's face it, many people are) you shouldn't go past poundland, especially for generic items like cleaning stuff, even soaps, shampoos and other bathroom stuff. It's all only 1 pound.
