First day in Nice

Day to explore Nice.

Amazed by the colours of the water.

Walked up to citadel/ rocks/lookout/waterfall/ruins of old church/parts of old town, incl Place Garibaldi.

Back to hotel to change. Down to the beach to swim. Was a bit of a windy day. The waves however, only break 1m from shore. It was fantastic to swim just past this, past the breakers. Beautiful water! Love the Mediterranean. Hate pebbles, though. Hard to get out of the water, as breakers bash you against the pebbles. Andy and I both kinda got smashed in to each other :/ Got some small bruises from that. But worth it to swim in the gorgeous waters.

Back to hotel to swim in pool. Out for dinner in restaurant strip near the promenade. Yummy! I had fresh fettucini with scallops and calamari, but not quite enough.

Another walk through old town, parts we hadn't seen. Wow! Wonderful to wander around at night. Big fountains. Lights. HEAPS of restaurants. Night markets :) Ice cream in 80 different flavours! Including different sorts of flowers... yes, really!

Coke, corona, tomato and basil... and lots of other weird stuff. I got cacao (so incredibly dark and bitter (really good) and elaboree (supposed to be a mix of stuff like fruit, crushed nuts, syrup, etc... mine was just a creamy colour and yummy)with peanut m&m's in it. Later Andy got an ice cream from a different place (creme brulee and butter pecan) also good.
