Graz - Surfin the River...

Despite having a pretty shitty transit system, Graz has been much better to us than Vienna. Not in terms of weather, where it was pretty much the same, but it’s a nicer feeling city. Still seems very shopping focussed, but there’s lots of funky architecture to look at also.

As always, we started our day walking around the city, and looking at the buildings, the usual. One of the sights we came across was a guy surfin in the river, which we decided we needed to film for your pleasure

Our main stop of the day was the castle on top of the hill, or Schlossberg. Our public transport ticket got us up there for free, although that was not clear at all. Alot of people probably pay the extra, not knowing. The funicular was like pretty much any other – relatively quick, with fantastic views. Once we got up the top though, the views over the city kept going. The Uhrterm for some reason which we haven’t established yet, had both a “sun” hand and a “moon” hand.

Underneath the Schlossberg, we found lots of tunnels, including a lift that goes right up to the top, and a "Crystal Grotto" miniature train, that takes you on a 15 minute ride through the caverns under the hill (it can get chilly!) where they have animatronic fairy tale displays, some of which we could identify, others we couldn't. We'd definitely recommend that you took the chance to do this - we only just got onto the last ride of the day. It takes 20 minutes, but don't bother with your camera.
