After a smooth, quick ride on the Eurostar, through relatively flat, green farm lands of france and Belgium, we got to Brussels Midi, and jumped on a local train to De Brouckere. The local train was kind of like a tram, more than a train, but ran underground. Very clean.
After checking in, we went out for a “short walk” – it ended up taking us 3.5 hours. We walked all around the local area, and ended up at Grand Place.
Grand Place is possibly the best square, plaza, place, or open area I think i’ve seen so far. You walk in through this small little cobbled side street, and suddenly it just opens out, and the buildings are stunning.
Overall, Brussels is feeling very clean, friendly and relaxed. Eating in restaurants and cafes look a little expensive, but we had waffles for dinner and they filled us up enough :D
