Brussels Light and Sound !

After our fulfilling day at Gent, we had a rest till about 10pm, wanting to wander round, see the city at night, and take some photos. We mumbled our way up to Grand Place, where it was about 10:55, and hundreds of people sitting and standing everywhere. We figured we’d just take some photos and then keep going.

Suddenly, there was a big sequence of shutter noises, like when lights go off. And the lights did start going off, all the way around the square. Seems we’d lucked out, and found a great big light and sound show. From the museum, they were projecting light across onto the town hall.

The town hall is about the only building still remaining in Grand Place, that wasn’t rebuilt after WWII. It’s really quite tall, with a massive spire in the middle. They used a whole series of lights and colours, and a whole range of different music, including some dance music, classical, and even current pop music.

We can’t believe we were so lucky to have just stumbled on all of this, and lay back on the cobblestones, looking up and just watching. It was a pretty fantastic , and very memorable, way to spend our last evening in Belgium.
We’ve got a couple of photos that will go up on our Flickr stream, and a couple of videos that will
