Barcelona is spectacular

A lot to pack in. 3 trips into and out of the city planned. All worked out. First we caught our free shuttle in to town (offered by the 5 star tower next door). Had a walk around the centre, down La Rambla (famous main street), into some of the smaller streets off the side into the old town.

Some of the oldest buildings we’ve seen. Beautiful area, although the camera didn’t seem to capture this very well unfortunately. Down to the port and along back up to the other end of La Rambla. There were some little market-y shops along the middle of the street and I managed to find a couple of charms for my bracelet. Very happy about this. Walked along a little further and decided to sit for a drink (Sangria for me of course, and beer for Andy). These obviously cost a lot more here than they would’ve away from this street, but it was worth it to sit and people watch. Big drinks too. Little tipsy...

Back to apartment to have lunch and change and then off to the beach. Not the most beautiful beach we’ve ever seen. The water isn’t as clear as over on the Italian side of the Mediterranean, but still a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Not many waves, just nice and relaxing.

Back to hotel again for showers and dinner and then out again to see the magic fountain that we didn’t know about until we checked in the day before and the receptionist mentioned it. We are very glad she did! Absolutely stunning and moving. There’s a bunch of fountains leading down to a giant fountain at the base of a gorgeous building (now a museum of art). The water moves in time with lights and music. Wow!

So much more to see in Barcelona. We could easily spend a week here with so much to do. Hopefully we can come back one day.
