Harrods!

So, despite the hail, and lack of Jubilee Line trains, we decided on Monday that we wanted to go to Harrods. Let's face it - we've been here 3 months, it's about time we went.

Plus, who else has ever been to a store that has a code of conduct, and dress standards, for visitors!

So we walked up to the station, and jumped on a replacement bus to take us to Baker St. This in itself was kind of cool, because while we've been on replacements to take us to Kilburn and Finchley Road, this is the closest to the city we've been above ground and in a vehicle, so that was new and different. Sure, it took over twice as long, but it's still tourist mode.

Once at Baker, we had to jump a Tube down to Knightsbridge station. We walked up the stairs and started wandering where to go.... and saw the green awnings right in front of us.

Not sure if it was because it's a public holiday, (bank holiday, sorry) or if it's always like that, but after quickly passing through the perfumerry, we found ourselves in the food halls. Oh My oh My. Some fabulous looking food. All of which I'm sure was expensive. We didn't buy anything, but saw some wonderful creations.. Chocolate eclairs, but with red&green icing - Pistachio and Raspberry. Rhiannon saw a Wagyu steak she wanted to take home (almost as much as an entire day's wage, but omg it would be good.)

Then we looked up and saw the roof. All the internal roofs have these fantastic features on them. One room was all egyptian. All period based. We should have had the camera, but didn't.

Then we wandered on through the rest of the building, and agreed that our favourite area was the furnishings. Nowhere as cool as the roofs were downstairs though. If you just want to see the roofs (and food) then stay downstairs.. :)

It was a good afternoon all up.. especially because we got to relax and be driven, and see things.

On a side note, partly due to our adventures in Ireland, and partly due to some funds that were graciously bestowed upon us, we decided to purchase a hand held GPS/Navigational aide. THis will be great for not only our very-soon-now driving tour through northern Italy, but also for our Europe trips in general..

Stay tuned dear readers, (if you are in fact out there!) and we might write a post about Powers Bar in Kilburn..

  2. Yea, saw a dude there who has similar hair to some photos of you from approximately that time.
Mum mentioned you lived near there, seemed excited.. where abouts was it? I think I'm liking the area a bit more than Willesden Green, it just has more stuff, feels a bit grungier, but also livelier..
It's close, so nice and easy to get to, even free when the tube replacement busses are running.. :)
