The Sefton Hotel...

We've been on the Isle of Man for a few days now, and had a pretty good time. Rather than make massive, long War&Peace entries, I'm going to make several smaller posts, about various things.
In keeping with what I plan on some of the blog theme to be, these posts may be reviews on attractions, establishments, foods, drinks, or anything like that.

This particular one, is about the Sefton Hotel, Douglas, Isle of Man. We were very impressed.

To start with - we found an offer of £70 per night, for a Deluxe Double Atrium Room. This is in a 4-star hotel, over what we normally expect to be a massively busy Easter weekend. The normal rack rate is £130 and upwards per night. Well and truly over our budget, so we're glad we found this.

First impressions, is it's a fantastic hotel. The reception staff were fantastic, friendly and really likeable. The interior of the hotel is nicely decorated and warm. The odd thing is, there are specific lifts, based on the middle number of your room!

Our room was much, much larger than we expected, and in fact, is at least twice as large as our actual flat in London. This excludes the balcony, which looks over the lovely indoor atrium. The temperature within the room is acceptable, but at the height of summer, may be a little much due to the atrium, and there's no air con.

The two couches (one indoor, one out) are both comfortable, and the free wireless allowed us to rapidly download some tv shows we had missed. The only downside we're really found is the bed (again, ginormous!) consists of two singles joined together - we have a long standing hate for this sort of thing, but we're kind of expecting it everywhere anyway. It gives the hotel more flexibility.

On our first night, we'd been down to the pool, then out to dinner (See post on Coast Bar & Brasserie) and came back to find our bed had been turned down, mints on the pillows, and the heater on. It's definitely a 4-star hotel.

I'm sure Rhiannon will write something about the pool... :D

The price mentioned above actually includes a hot buffet breakfast, which we have availed ourselves of, and agree that this is also pretty reasonable quality, for mass produced buffet food. I Even tried black pudding. (Not bad, but probably won't do it again)

Overall, this is very definitely a hotel we would recommend, if you could get it in the region of 70-100 a night, or even full price if you are so inclined (we're on a budget though..)
We would definitely come back again.
